Well, that was quick.
In a giddy fit of celebration following his “complete exoneration” on counts of collusion and obstruction of justice (so says Attorney General Bill Barr), Trump announced a judicial and legislative push to once and for all eradicate Obamacare and — get ready! — replace it with the Best, Greatest, Most-Amazing Health Insurance Plan Ever Believe Me Many People Are Saying.
Trump’s problem, of course, is that there is no such plan. There’s not even a plan to have a plan. GOP leaders on Capitol Hill have fresh and undimmed memories of the 2018 drubbing the party took on the issue of health insurance, and thus have little interest in going down that road again.
And so Trump backpedaled amusingly, promising Tuesday that the party’s alleged plan to replace the ACA will be unveiled after the 2020 election.
