President Donald J. Trump routinely shows zero loyalty to anything or anyone he can’t use, bully or profit from, but today his epic Narcissism and intellectual impotence are getting people killed.
Trump’s snap decision to betray our Kurdish allies in Syria will stain this nation with the blood of freedom-fighters who came to our aid only to be abandoned on the battlefield. The Kurds and their families fought ISIS and other terrorists alongside our troops with the trust that America would live up to the ideals we preach to the world — honor, integrity, loyalty.
When Turkey invaded Syria and began slaughtering Kurds this morning, America sat idly by on the orders of Our Commander-in-Chief. Trump’s decision to trade Kurdish lives to change the subject from his impeachment scandal has been widely criticized from the left and the right. Even Sen. Lindsey Graham, among Trump’s most shameless apologists, is up in arms.
“Pray for our Kurdish allies who have been shamelessly abandoned by the Trump Administration. This move ensures the reemergence of ISIS. I will lead the effort in Congress to make (Turkish President) Erdogan pay a heavy price. I urge President Trump to change course while there is still time by going back to the safe zone concept that was working.”
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers, Lindsey. I’m sure they’re a comfort to the Kurds who died today while the president sat in the Oval Office tweeting empty threats and other fetid nuggets of his “great and unmatched wisdom.”
Trump is too selfish, stupid and scatterbrained to know or care, but the blood of the Kurds murdered today is on his tiny hands. Ours, too.
