The candidates in the 12th Congressional District special election will debate at least twice in the next month.

State Rep. Fred Keller, R-85, Snyder County, and Democratic college professor Marc Friedenberg will first match up at a forum April 12 sponsored by the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce. That is scheduled for 8 a.m. at the County Cupboard, 101 Hafer Road, Lewisburg.

They will meet again for a formal televised debate May 2 at 8 p.m. at WVIA-TV, 100 WVIA Way, Jenkins Twp.

Keller and Friedenberg are the candidates in the May 21 special election to replace former Rep. Tom Marino, who resigned Jan. 23 for health reasons.

The special election coincides with the primary election. Unlike the primary election, which is limited to only Democrats and Republicans, members of all parties may vote in the special election.

The 12th district consists of all of Wyoming, Susquehanna and Bradford counties and all or parts of 12 other counties stretching to Williamsport and State College in central Pennsylvania.

Keller’s campaign announced the debates.
